Fever, cough, nasal discharge, and lethargy are signs of respiratory disease. Infectious respiratory disease in horses is seen in all months of the year, but it is most commonly encountered in the months of ...

Development and characterization of an infectious cDNA clone of the virulent Bucyrus strain of Equine arteritis virus.

Strains of Equine arteritis virus (EAV) differ in the severity of the disease that they induce in horses. Infectious cDNA clones are potentially useful for identification of genetic determinants of EAV virulence; to date, two clones have been derived from a cell culture-adapted variant of the original (Bucyrus) isolate of EAV, and it has previously been shown that recombinant virus derived from...

Prevalence of equine viral arteritis in Algeria.

In order to determine the prevalence of equine viral arteritis in Algeria, 268 sera from non-vaccinated horses were collected from the western and eastern regions. Serological analysis of the sera, which were collected from 2009 to 2011, was performed using the virus neutralisation test, as described by the World Organisation for Animal Health. Overall, 20 sera (7.46%) were seropositive, 152 (5...
